Atoms, invisible particles of matter, are very important parts of matter; people, the entire living world, everything that exists on our planet, as well as a large part of the solar system is composed of atoms. That was a reason enough for us to get to know these invisible “friends” more closely. In class, we used models of atoms to help students arrive more easily at a conclusion that atoms of the same type build chemical elements, and atoms of different types build chemical compounds. By combining carbon atoms, we got a diamond model that now adorns the classroom where the students stay.
