Students of International School Crnjanski and PI Kids Club were participants in the national competition in the construction and programming of robots called the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), which was held in Subotica and organized by the Faculty of Teachers in the Hungarian language under the slogan “Connecting people”.
Participants had the opportunity to express their creativity and problem-solving skills by connecting STEM content with everyday life. Five teams of students from our school were competing in the Future Innovators category, in which this year it was possible to prepare a project on two topics: water connections and relations between information technologies.
Out of a total of 82 teams and over 300 participants, our teams achieved great results and won numerous awards.
In the Future Innovators Elementary category, the 1st place went to the RoboMasters team consisting of students Lenka Marović and Kosta Nikodijević, who presented a robotic solution that helps maintain the river valleys clean. Second place went to the RoboSquad team, composed of students Adam Radovanović and Mihaela Maljković, who presented their version of a humanoid robot with a task of eliminating all unnecessary data in the form of photos and video materials that add additional burden to databases. The third place was taken by the RoboREX team consisting of students Viktor Radovanović, Janko Petrović and Aleksa Andrejić, who presented a robotic solution for eliminating harmful substances that pollute water surfaces.
In the Future Innovators Junior category, the 1st place was taken by the Mr Robot team consisting of students Aleksej Radovanović, Tamara Timotijević and Teodor Milićević, who presented a robotic solution aimed at protecting whales as an endangered species from ship collisions. Second place went to the Vortex team consisting of students Marko Petrović, Andrej Tasić and Mihajlo Andrejić, who presented a solution to avoid ship collisions and successfully transport oil to recycling centers. Based on the results achieved, the first place Mr Robot team will have the opportunity to present their innovative project at the World Robot Olympiad in Panama at the end of this year. In addition to qualifying for the world competition, the most successful teams will have the opportunity to take part in a robotics competition in Denmark, but also to improve their coding and designing skills in a robotics camp in Hungary.
The participants of PI “Kids Club” tried their hand in the Robomission Starter category, in which they had the opportunity to design robots that collect fruit and agricultural products in the field, sort them and transport them from orchards to ships.
This was an exceptional opportunity for students to develop coding and conceptual robotics and general engineering skills relevant to the 21st century through teamwork and fostering core values.
