Tectonic plates, volcanoes, and rocks

In their Geography class, fifth-grade students participated in a workshop focused on volcanoes, rocks, and tectonic plates. They began by determining the direction of movement of the tectonic plates using arrows and the Tectonic Explorer platform. Through practical demonstrations, they observed the formation of mountains and faults, followed by a sorting activity on the smart board where they categorized rocks based on their formation processes.

Furthermore, they examined minerals, noting similarities and differences in color, structure, and hardness. Subsequently, they created their own mineral samples.

Towards the conclusion of the workshop, students conducted an experiment simulating a volcanic eruption. The aim of this activity was to understand the fundamental processes and cause-and-effect relationships within the planet Earth’s interior.
